AN UNKNOWN SCHEME FOR THE CYCLE “OUR FATHER” IN THE SIYA COMPENDIUM
The Siya Compendium is а significant source of the 17th-century iconography. It represents both a collection of engravings and icon painting samples and a manuscript containing texts (inscriptions to icons, paint names etc). Some pages were ignored by N. V. Pokrovsky, who was the main researcher of the Siya Compendium. Among them is the drawing “For Thine is the Kingdom” (p. 485). Its iconographic attribution made it possible to associate the sample with the tradition of illustrating the prayer “Our Father” and to suggest that it was intended to help an unknown artist who worked on such an illustrative cycle.
