EKATERINA A. ALEKSANDROVA: THE ROLE OF THE PERFORMER’S PERSONALITY IN FOLK TRADITIONAL CULTURE
The article is devoted to the creative heritage of one of the outstanding Izhora singers - Ekaterina A. Aleksandrova - the keeper of folklore traditions of one of the indigenous peoples of Leningrad Oblast. The research involves recordings of the expedition of the 1970-1980s, whose quantitative composition shows the depth of the performer’s knowledge of Izhora and Russian folk song cultures. The study raises the problem of “folklore bilingualism” as one of the most relevant ones for ethnic groups living in the neighborhood.
