Impact of Trichoderma harzianum on peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase activities in Pisum sativum varieties affected by vascular wilt

Aims:The aim of this study was to study the effect of the activities of peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase in Pisum astivum affected by vascular wilt. Methodology and results:The results showed a significant difference in the activity of peroxidase in Holland and French varieties, according to the different treatments studied, where the Holland variety was significantly superior to the French variety. The treatment with biological control Trichoderma harzianum was significantly superior to all other treatments, as the enzyme activity was 1.62/min/gm in wet tissue. The least significant effect was recorded, and the peroxidase enzyme activity was 0.85/min/gm in wet tissue. The effect of the treatments on P. astivum verities indicates that there are significant differences between treatments for Holland variety, as the biological control T. harzianum shows significantly superior to the other treatments and the enzyme activity was 2.25/min/g, while the least significant effect was in the treatment of Fusarium solani and F. verticilliodes treatment in addition to T. harzianum, which was 0.89 and 0.87/min/g, respectively. In the French variety, significant differences were found between the treatments and the superiority of T. harzianum treatment over other treatments, and the enzyme activity was estimated at 1.45/min/g, and the least significant effect was in the treatment of F. solani, which amounted to 0.57/min/g.The activity of polyphenol oxidase differed in the Holland and French P. astivum varieties. The French variety was significantly superior to the Holland variety, as it was 0.83/min/gm wet tissue. In comparison, the Holland variety was 0.22/min/gm in wet tissue, and the results recorded a significant superiority for the treatment of biological control T. harzianum was 0.88/min/gm in wet tissue. The treatment of F. tricinctum, in addition to biological control T. harzianum had a less significant effect, as it reached 0.34/min/g in wet tissue. As for the effect of the interaction between treatments and P. astivum varieties, the results indicate there are significant differences between the treatments for the Holland variety, where the treatment of the biological control T. harzianum was superior to the other treatments, which was 0.53/min/g and the lowest significant effect was in the treatment of F. solani, which was 0.07/min/g.As for the French variety, it showed the biological control T. harzianum was significantly superior to the other treatments, where the polyphenol oxidase activity reached 1.43/min/g and was less significant than the treatment with F. solani, which was 0.21/min/g. Conclusion, significance and impact of study:The results showed a significant difference in peroxidase activity in Holland and French verities, according to the different treatments studied, where the Holland variety was significantly superior to the French variety. The treatment with biological control T. harzianum was significantly superior to all other treatments.
