A study of the CD17 and TLR-4 levels in the serum of bacterial urinary tract infection patients in Diyala province

Aims: This study aimed to determine the level of CD17 and TLR-4 in the serum of patients with bacterial urinary tract infections (UTI).Methodology and results: 350 blood and 350 urine samples were collected from people with UTIs.After urine diagnosis, it was found that 205 patients had UTI infections. The results indicate that Gram-negative bacteria constituted 58.5% of the 123 isolates. They included Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and B. cepacia. At the same time, Gram-positive bacteria constituted 41.4% of total isolates, divided into two groups that include 37 isolates (30.08%) were Staphylococcus spp.and 14 isolates (11.3%) identified as Enterococcus spp.Staphylococcus spp.included as S. aureus and coagulase-negative Staphylococcus strains, identified as S. haemolyticus, S. epidermidis, S. vitulinus, S. sciuri, S. homins, S. warneri, S. lentus and Enterococcus spp.isolates that included E. faecalis, E. faecium and E. avium. The study found that the incidence of UTI was high among females 57.7% and males 42.3%.Immunological parameters included the determination of serum CD17 and TLR-4 levels. Conclusion, significance and impact of study:Results show that high level of CD17 and TLR-4 was found in UTI patients compared with the control group as 1.848 0.588 versus 0.708 0.229 g/L and 841.0285 67.7 versus 571.716 21.8 pg/mL, respectively.
