Interleukin-10 and interferon-gamma serum levels correlation with some liver function parameters in hepatitis C chronically infected patients
Aims: Estimating interleukin-10 (IL-10) serum levels and interferon-gamma (INF-) and their correlation with hepatic biochemical parameters in chronic HCV-infected patients versus healthy controls.Methodology and results: Our study consisted of forty-four (44) patients with chronic hepatitis C aged 16-57 years plus forty (40) healthy controls aged 18-54.Samples were collected from various hospitals in Dohuk Governorate, Iraq.Biochemical liver function markers were assessed using traditional methods according to IFCC instructions.Serum concentrations of IL-10 and INF- levels were assessed using abcam kits and according to the manufacturer's instructions.HCV RNA were quantified using the fully automated GeneXpert system. Conclusion, significance and impact of study: A significant difference in IL-10 and INF- serum levels between HCVinfected patients and healthy controls were detected. There were also several significant correlations between these inflammatory cytokines and liver function markers in HCV-infected individuals.
