Theoretical Application Analysis of Deep Learning Algorithms in Sports Injury Prediction

Sports injuries are common in the field of sports and have a significant impact on athletes' health and careers. Traditional prevention and assessment methods have limitations such as high cost, time consumption, and subjectivity. Deep learning technologies, especially Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs), and Long Short-Term Memory Networks (LSTMs), offer new possibilities for sports injury prediction due to their advantages in image recognition and time series analysis. This study adopts a theoretical analysis approach to deeply explore the application potential, effectiveness, theoretical advantages, and limitations of CNNs, RNNs, and LSTMs in sports injury prediction. The study compares the relative efficiency and applicability of these algorithms in dealing with sports injury prediction problems and discusses how to choose the most suitable model based on sports type, injury type, and data characteristics. The study found that CNNs perform well in image recognition, effectively identifying improper movement patterns or postures, and automatically recognizing potential injuries from medical images. RNNs and LSTMs have advantages in handling time series data, capturing potential injury risks in athletes' physiological data over time. The algorithm’s computational complexity, robustness, and generalization ability are important factors affecting its application in sports injury prediction. When choosing algorithms, specific application scenarios and data types should be considered, or different models may be combined to achieve more accurate injury prediction. Deep learning algorithms show tremendous potential in the field of sports injury prediction, but research is still in its early stages. Future research should focus on multimodal data fusion, model interpretability, the development of real-time prediction systems, interdisciplinary approaches, and enhanced data collection and annotation. These directions will help improve the accuracy and robustness of predictions and promote the widespread application of deep learning technologies in sports science.
