Determination of Photosynthetic Rate and Photocarbon Capacity Response Surfaces
Currently, the light response curve considers only the relationship between light intensity and photosynthetic rate and cannot demonstrate the rule of considering multiple environmental factors affecting the photosynthetic rate. This study considers the light response surface of carbon dioxide concentration and light intensity with respect to the photosynthetic rate and photocarbon capacity. We measured the photoresponse curves of potato at different concentrations of carbon dioxide, and integrated the photoresponse curves at different concentrations of carbon dioxide into a photosynthetic rate response surface using MATLAB. Based on the concept of photocarbon capacity (photocarbon capacity = photosynthetic rate <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\text{PPFD}^{-1}=\text{Pn} * \text{PPFD}^{-1}$</tex>, whose biological significance is the measure of the amount of carbon dioxide molecules that can be converted from photon energy for photosynthesis), MATLAB was used to integrate the light response curves at different carbon dioxide concentrations into a photocarbon capacity response surface. It was found that the photocarbon capacitysurface had certain extreme vertices.
