Research on an Active Soft-Switching Dual Boost PFC Circuit Using Silicon Carbide Power Device

In order to solve the problem of conduction loss and switching loss in the traditional Boost PFC (Power Factor Control) circuit operating in CCM mode, an active soft-switching dual Boost PFC circuit is proposed in this paper. All switches of the proposed PFC circuit operate in the ZVS to reduce the switching loss of the circuit. The circuit adopts the equivalent bridgeless PFC circuit structure with only two silicon carbide power devices in the current path to reduce the conduction loss, and adopts the synchronous rectifier switch tube to further reduce the conduction loss. In this paper, the operational principles of the proposed circuit are analyzed in detail, the key parameters of the circuit are designed and analyzed. Finally, an experimental prototype with AC input of 185∽265 V<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">rms</inf> and rated output of 400V/680 W was developed. Experimental results have been obtained to show that the efficiency of the proposed active soft-switching dual Boost PFC circuit can be effectively improved and the better line characteristics has been obtained.
