A High-Efficiency Dual-Band Inset-Fed Rectangular Patch Antenna featuring Precision Slot Configurations for Enhanced V-Band Millimeter-Wave 5G Applications

This research article comprehensively analyzes a high-efficiency, dual-band microstrip-modified rectangular patch antenna incorporating various slot configurations. The inset-fed antenna uses a Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 substrate, which measures 0.254mm in thickness. The proposed antenna exhibits dual-band resonance at the frequencies of 47.00GHz and 59.75GHz (V-Band) with return losses of -32.14dB and -19.69dB respectively. This antenna is meticulously designed and analyzed using HFSS. The sophisticated design process ensures optimal performance in advanced 5G wireless communication technology. The compact design dimensions of 6 × 7 × 0.254 make it ideal for space-efficient 5G systems. It shows a favorable real impedance of 49.3604 ohms and an imaginary impedance of -2.3708 ohms at 47 GHz. It achieves high efficiencies of 0.98 and 0.99 at 47GHz and 59.75GHz respectively. Thus, this antenna is versatile, operating effectively at 60 GHz. It offers a favorable gain of 5.29 dB and 2.36dB at 47GHz and 59.75 GHz respectively. The article examines the progression of the proposed design detailing the optimization techniques employed and their impact on the S<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">11</inf> parameter. Additionally, the article analyzes various parameters of the final structure, including VSWR, reflection coefficients, Z-parameter, gain, and two-dimensional radiation patterns in electric and magnetic field planes.
