Design and Simulation of Highly Stable Gain and Broadband THz Microstrip Array Antennas: Potentials for Nano-sensor Integration

In this paper, we have designed the planar microstrip array antennas operating at 114GHz with parasitic patches to enhance the impedance bandwidth through the primary antenna without frequency-selective surfaces (FSSs). Further, we have embedded FSS in the second antenna to significantly boost the antenna gain and directivity. The proposed antenna design is performed using CST-MWS, a commercial simulator, and validation has been accomplished with Ansys HFSS software. The peak gain and impedance bandwidth of the first planar antenna simulation results from the CST MWS and Ansys HFSS are correspondingly 20.4dB, 18GHz, 19.6dB, and >23GHz. Therefore, reasonable acceptance through the simulation results has been accomplished, which supports the proposed antenna design and could be utilized for a sixth-generation (6G) antenna with its nano-sensor integration potential.
