High Isolation X-Band MIMO antenna for Space Applications
A four element Multi Input Multi Output (MIMO) antenna with identical microstrip patches is carried out in this paper. The proposed work is done on arlon (εr=4.5) substrate using insert line fed technique at 9.8 GHz central frequency. Multiple reflectors are placed at each patch element to obtain the desired antenna performance parameters like S11 of -34.58dB, 0.323 VSWR, Gain of 4.54 dBi along with better isolation in the form of Envelop Correlation Coefficient (ECC). The proposed antenna is designed in High Frequency Structural Simulator which is full wave Electromagnetic solver. The proposed antenna has a band width of 470MHz from 9.6 to 10.07GHz range and its mutual coupling is also in the permissible level. The radiation pattern of E-plane & H-Plane and Polar plots are analyzed at the operating frequency, further the Isolation characteristics like reflection, transmission coefficients of all four ports are presented. The designed MIMO antenna is having good potential for space applications.
