A Compact Ultra-Wideband Planner MSA for mmWave FR-II NR: n257, n258, n262 and n260 Bands for 5G Wireless Applications

In this manuscript, a compact (UWB) ultra-wideband planner monopole radiator for the mmWave band has been proposed. The proposed antenna offers an impedance bandwidth 22.7GHz extending 16.1GHz to 38.8 GHz. The projected antenna covers the K-band (18 GHz to 27GHz), FR-II (frequency range) NR (24.250 GHz to 30GHz) and partial Ka-band (37GHz to 38.8 GHz). The popular FR-II NR band covers the distinct frequency bands n257 (26.50GHz to 29.50GHz), n258 (24.25GHz to 27.50GHz) and n261 (27.50GHz to 28.35GHz) and partial n262 (37GHz to 38.8 GHz) utilized for 5G wireless communication. The antenna is designed using dielectric material Rogers TMM4 bearing dielectric constant 4.7 with dimension 4×5×0.5 mm3. The antenna exhibits an S11 magnitude with a maximum magnitude of -42dB and a fractional bandwidth of 82%. The antenna has a compact profile with an operating range that covers the FR-II NR bands making it a suitable for 5G wireless applications.

Abstract

The antenna exhibits an S11 magnitude with a maximum magnitude of -42dB and a fractional bandwidth of 82%.
