Performance Evaluation of Dielectric Resonator Antennas (DRA) Using Diverse Materials with Octagonal-Shaped Microstrip Patch Antenna
This paper delivers a comprehensive performance evaluation of Dielectric Resonator Antennas (DRA) utilizing diverse dielectric materials, integrated with an octagonal-shaped microstrip patch antenna. The study investigates the influence of various dielectric substrates on the antenna's performance functions like Reflection coefficient, VSWR, bandwidth, radiation pattern, axial ratio and gain. The performance was assessed using three different types of dielectric materials Al<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">2</inf>O<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">3</inf> ceramic, Alumina 96pct, and Alumina 92pct. An Octagon Shaped Microstrip Patch (OSMPA) antenna was proposed with a partial ground plane at the back of the antenna and then a Dielectric resonator was attached with the proposed antenna. The proposed OSMPA obtained a multiband and wide band characteristics which makes it suitable for more applications. This work makes it suitable for scanning purposes that has obtained a directional radiation pattern.
