A Novel Dual-Band (47GHz/56GHz) High Performance Rectangular Patch Antenna Consisting Advanced Slots for V-Band Applications

This study presents a dual-band improved rectangularly shaped patch antenna having multiple slots in the shape of a circle and a rectangle. The presented final antenna design is highly compact with the measurements 6mm×7mm×0.254mm, making it compatible with 5G mobile handsets. This modified dual-band patch antenna has V-band applications with the first peak centered at the frequency of 47GHz, having a return loss of -55.92 dB, and the second peak centered at the frequency of 56.1GHz, having a return loss of - 27.09 dB. Through analysis done using HFSS, the proposed antenna offers excellent efficiency and gain. Detailed analysis shows us that the proposed structure exhibits a real impedance of 49.58 ohm and imaginary impedance of 0.28 ohm. It also shows a VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) value of 0.055 and 0.768 at 47GHz & 56.1GHz respectively. Various parameters like Efficiency, Reflection Coefficients along with 2-D Radiation Pattern of H-Plane and E-Plane have also been analyzed.
