A Co-linearly Polarized Highly Isolated Full Duplex Antenna Using Novel DGS
A two-port antenna system that is highly isolated and low cross-polarized for Simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) at 5.9 GHz is proposed in this article. This system is based on defected ground structure (DGS) technique for self interference cancellation (SIC). SIC in the context of full-duplex can be facilitated without the need for additional circuitry. A novel approach using a pair of rectangular strip structure DGS placed parallelly, provides a isolation of (> 75dB) within the impedance bandwidth. The FD antenna features a fractional bandwidth of 3.7% and a realized gain of 5.9 dBi for the individual antennas. The simple coaxial feeding mechanism and planar structure make it easy for fabrication and practical use in STAR systems.
