An Innovative Microstrip Antenna with Corrugation, Slots, DGS and Stub covering n257/Ka band (28 GHz) for 5G applications
A novel rectangular patch microstrip antenna operating at 28.025GHz (including 28.00GHz) with a cutting-edge design is proposed in this paper. It sports a few rectangular slots, a circular stub, circular parasitic structures, a defected ground, and corrugated slots too, which all contribute to its impressive results. Designed on a Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 substrate with a thickness of 0.254mm, the antenna achieves a resonating frequency of 28.025GHz with a significantly low return loss of -54.097dB, including 28GHz with -49.67dB return loss. It achieves a peak gain of 5.09dB (5.08dB at 28.00GHz). The antenna is designed and analyzed using HFSS software. With compact dimensions of 6 x 7 x 0.254 mm3, the antenna is ideal for applications in 5G devices running in the Ka band, also a part of n257 band. It demonstrates imaginary and real impedances of 0.19 ohms and 50.03 ohms, respectively at the precise resonating frequency. This paper also appraises enhanced parameter results as well as the evolution and enhancement techniques incorporated to infer favorable values of parameters such as return loss, 2-D radiation patterns in both E and H-plane, VSWR and gain.
