Terahertz High-Gain and Low Sidelobe Levels 6G Microstrip Array Antenna
In this paper, we have designed three microstrip array antennas with a novel patch technique using CST-MWS, a commercial simulator based on a finite integration technique with low sidelobe levels (SLLs) operating at a resonance frequency of 128 GHz. As we know, high SLLs adversely affect radiation efficiency and limit the propagation distance of the transmitted signal. Thus, an amplitude weighting technique is employed to alleviate this concern in which unequal Taylor normalized amplitude coefficients are multiplied by the width of each array element. The simulation results present a peak gain of 22.76dB, bandwidth (BW) of 22.47GHz (17.32%), and a minimum SLL of -30.6 dB. To validate the results, we compared the simulation of the primary antenna design through Ansys HFSS software, and both sets of results exhibited close agreement. These encouraging outcome positions make these antennas strong candidates for future 6G communication using the terahertz (THz) spectrum.
