Vienna PFC Rectifier with Backstepping Combined Sliding Mode Control Strategy

The three-phase Vienna PFC Rectifier is simplified to analyze by using an equivalent single-phase Vienna circuit in this paper. Usually, the chattering phenomena can be exhibited by using Sliding mode control; when the approaching law coefficient is too large, significant chattering can be resulted in with the rapid approach speed. The backstepping method can be used to be susceptible to disturbances, but the high precision in the model is required. For a simplified equivalent single-phase Vienna rectifier, a backstepping method combined sliding mode control method is proposed in this paper, which the control strategy of sliding mode control is used in the subsystem of the backstepping method for controlling the output voltage to enhance the robustness of the control strategy and improving the dynamic response speed. The operating principle and implementation method of the proposed control method are analyzed in detail. Finally, computer simulation analysis was conducted, and a equivalent 100W experimental prototype was built up. Simulation and experimental results have been obtained to show that, compared with the backstepping control and the sliding-mode control methods respectively, the robustness and dynamic performance can be improved by the proposed control strategy.
