Circular patch coaxial feed Microstrip antenna with DGS for X band

A proposed circular antenna with a coaxial feed and defected ground structure is provided, making it ideal for X-band applications. A microstrip antenna is formed by integrating nearly two semicircles into a circular antenna. The antenna uses a DGS, which incorporates two rectangular patches, each measuring 21.799 mm x 2.5 mm. The designed antenna dimensions are 21.799 × 25.9013 × 1.6 mm and functions within the frequency ranges of 8 GHz, making it suitable X-band applications. Electromagnetic energy is delivered to the radiator through a compact coaxial feed using a coaxial port. In this circular antenna is crafted using an FR4 epoxy substrate, characterized by a thickness of 1.6mm and a dielectric constant of 4.4. The proposed antennas exhibit return losses of -36.2842 dB, on resonated frequencies 8 GHz, respectively. Using HFSS, we design and analyze the antenna.
