Design of a Triple band Metamaterial Absorber With Near Unity Absorption for Sub-6 GHz Range RF Energy Harvesting Applications
In this article, the design of a Sub-6 GHz triple band absorber metasurface for S & C-band RF Energy Harvesting applications is demonstrated. Metasurfaces are artificially engineered subwavelength structures which enable ultra-thin designs that replace the traditional antennas, operating at a Sub-6 GHz range used in wireless communications like 5G, Wi-Fi etc. This absorber operates at a triple band frequency of 2.4 GHz, 3.5 GHz and 5.2 GHz. The design was analyzed, and its absorption characteristics were plotted. Two resistors were added, which enhanced the absorptivity over different bands. Surface current patterns were analyzed, and found that either magnetic resonance or dielectric resonance was accountable for the absorption in these bands. By varying the value of these resistors, this design could achieve wide-band absorption, and Wireless real-time applications could be possible with this approach.
