Crests Factor Reduction's Impact on 5g New Radio Signals
A good baseband-to-RF conversion rate depends on accurate baseband models. Basic ideas that come from traditional baseband treatment methods may very well prove incorrect when applied to one of the new multi-antenna systems. With a high peak-to-average power ratio, PAPR, all waveform 4G and 5G designs are forced to peak and average power levels low enough that high PAPR doesn't pull out of the amplifier corrections getting squeezed too much or simply give rise to clipping in your signal of interest. This paper examines the results of applying the crest factor reduction (CFR) technique to PAPR reduction. Test results show that the CFR is capable of effectively reducing clipping in the signal conditioning to produce a smooth clipping and provide a correction factor for unwanted first or second spurious components relative to main energy content that does not affect its power spectrum, peak power, PAPR, error vector magnitude (EVM) and other various performance indexes.
