The Applicability of Represented Local Oral History for the Tourism Resource Development of Local History: Focusing on a Comparative Analysis of Anchang Tiger Village and Tombstone Culture Village in Busan

Purpose: This study conducted an exploratory study to implement the full-scale development of local oral history as a tourism resource. The study compared the possibility of developing oral history as a local tourism resource for the Anchang Tiger Village and the Tombstone Culture Village in Busan and discussed the importance of the process of visual representation of their oral history. The two villages are underdeveloped compared to other areas in downtown Busan among domestic areas but possess modern historical resources. Methods: The study observed and analyzed the exhibition status of historical resources in the two research sites that could be developed into oral history tourism content and the activities of visiting tourists to see those resources of these villages. In the process, analysis was conducted by visiting and photographing places where local historical resources were specifically represented. Results: The result shows that discovering and developing the representation of local oral history helps recognize the diversity of local culture and can be applicable as an important strategy for local tourism resource development with a convergence that combines history and tourism. Conclusion: The representation of local oral history is expected to remove restrictions on tourism activities for visitors to local areas by maintaining the invisible historical existence of the areas while visualizing it, and contribute to increasing the value of local community culture.
