The Impact of Memorable Travel Experiences on Emotion, Psychological Well-being, and Future Travel Intention

Purpose: This study aims to analyze how memorable travel experiences influence individuals' psychological well-being and future travel intentions through the mediating roles of positive and negative emotions. Methods: A survey-based study was conducted to collect data on memorable travel experiences, emotions, psychological well-being, and future travel intentions. Structural equation modeling was employed to empirically examine the relationships among these variables. Results: The findings reveal that memorable travel experiences significantly boost positive emotions while alleviating negative ones. Positive emotions were found to enhance psychological well-being, whereas negative emotions hindered it. Furthermore, individuals with higher psychological well-being exhibited stronger intentions to travel again, indicating the lasting influence of positive travel experiences on future behavior. Conclusion: Positive and memorable travel experiences play a critical role in fostering emotional well-being and influencing future travel behavior, including revisit intentions and positive word-of-mouth. To promote long-term engagement, tourism providers should prioritize wellness-focused products and emotionally enriching programs that maximize satisfaction, loyalty, and advocacy.
