A Study on the Influence of the Motivation for Major Selection of Cooking Major on Major Immersion and Career Exploration Behavior
Objective: The purposes of this study was to analyze the effects of intrinsic and extrinsic motivations of cooking major college students on major immersion and career search behavior. Methods: This study collected 239 samples for empirical research, reviewed the reliability and fitness of the research model, and verified a total 3 hypotheses using the AMOS program(18.0). This study also verified the hypothesis by using structural equations. Results: According to the empirical analysis results, the intrinsic motivation for major selection had a significant positive (+) effect on major immersion while the extrinsic motivation did not have a significant effect on major immersion. The intrinsic motivation was found to be much more important as a variable influencing major immersion. In addition, it was found that major immersion has a significant positive (+) effect on career search behavior. Implications: This study confirmed that intrinsic motivation plays an important role in major immersion and career exploration behavior in major selection of college students majoring in cooking.
