A Study on Ih Kangyul’s ≪Einsamer Abend≫ for Clarinet and Piano
This paper sheds light on the works of composer Ih Kangyul, who has not yetbeen studied in a full-fledged academic manner. The piece <<Einsamer Abend>> for clarinetand piano, which is discussed in this paper, is the last piece of small chamber ensemblewritten in the latter half of his life. It not only condenses his musical skills and thoughts, butalso suggests the future-oriented direction he was pursuing. This piece shows how tonalstructures and harmony of tonal music are integrated and utilized in atonal music. In this piece, the structure is considered as a two-part form, and it is divided into foursections. The clarinet and piano are separated horizontally, and the tonal relationships andchords shown in the piano are investigated, and the characteristics of the melody anddevelopment method shown in the clarinet are focused on. The attempt to combine tonal music and atonal music is considered to be one way forcomposers living in the 21st century. In addition, the composer's highly musical and logicaldevelopment method shown in this piece is considered to be a model for later composers.
