A Hierarchical Regression Analysis of Factors Influencing the Career Aspirations of Married Women Managers

This study aims to investigate the relative influence of factors affecting the career aspirations of married women managers with a hierarchical regression analysis. The investigator used the 2022 data of the Korean Women Manager Panel in its analysis, and the data covered 1,818 married women managers in a section chief position or higher under a department head position. The independent variables used in the analysis include organization-level variables(CEO mindset and work-family balance policies), relation-level variables(relationship with a supervisor and a mentor), an individual competency variable(leadership competencies), and work↔family transfer variables(positive work↔family transfer and negative work↔family transfer). The study analyzed the relative influence of these factors on the career aspirations of married women managers. The main findings were as follows: first, leadership competencies had the highest correlations with the career aspirations of married women managers; second, a mentor, leadership competencies, and positive work↔family transfer had positive impacts on the career aspirations of married women managers; and finally, the analysis results of the relative influence of the factors affecting the career aspirations of married women managers show that positive work↔family transfer had the highest influence on them, being followed by leadership competencies and a mentor in the order. These findings will provide significant implications for intervention strategies to increase the career aspirations of married women managers, and the study made a couple of proposals.
