Results of vaccination of medical workers of the Republic of Bashkortostan against new coronavirus infection (COVID-19)
Vaccination is the most effective method of protection against a new coronavirus infection. The study of the health status of medical workers after infection, the results of vaccination, as well as the frequency and duration of possible post-vaccination symptoms, is an extremely urgent task. The aim of the work is to study the vaccination rates against COVID-19 among medical workers of the Republic of Bashkortostan in 2020–2023. The data from the Federal Registers of persons infected and vaccinated against COVID-19 as of December 31, 2023 were studied. The analysis of the health status of 294 medical workers of the infectious diseases hospital and the polyclinic department of the hospital was carried out on the basis of data from periodic medical examinations. As a comparative group, 70 medical workers were vaccinated against the new coronavirus infection and did not have COVID-19, of comparable age and seniority. In total, in 2020–2023, 49624 medical workers were ill with COVID-19 in the Republic, of which 47488 cases with identification of the pathogen and 2136 without laboratory confirmation. It has been established that since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 48,512 medical workers have been vaccinated with Sputnik V and Sputnik Lite vaccines. After the start of vaccination, there was a steady downward trend in the incidence of COVID-19 among medical personnel, so in 2020 6154 people were ill, in 2021–22114, in 2022–14948, by the end of 2023–4272 medical workers had this infection. Medical workers who were ill and vaccinated against the new coronavirus infection complained of hair loss, irritability and decreased visual acuity, workers over 50 years old noted shortness of breath and pain in the heart area. At the same time, there were no significant changes in health status among medical workers who were ill and vaccinated against COVID-19, which indicates the effectiveness and important role of mass vaccination.
