Evaluation of the chemical content of the leaf extract of Physalis angulate L. extracted using the GC-MASS technique and its effect on the wound healing process

The physalis angulata, which belongs to the Solanaceae family, is known for its benefits and medicinal uses due to it containing effective chemical compounds that have made it used in many treatments and complementary medicines. This is what has been proven by most laboratory and in vivo research and studies of this plant in the various countries in which it is found. The aim of the research was to verify that Chemical compounds extracted from the leaf extract using the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry technique (GC-MASS) and after preparing the ethanolic extract using the hot soak method and analyzing the active chemical components of the extract, it was found that it contains 11 compounds, the most important of which are Octasiloxane and Phytol, which appeared in percentages of 15.33% and 15.28%, respectively.Cytotoxicity was also tested using the MTT method using a range of concentrations (1000, 500, 250, 125, 62.5, 31.75 micrograms) of the extract, in addition to evaluating the effect of the leaf extract on the wound healing process using a mouse fibroblast cell line. The results showed that the extract had no effect on the rat embryonic fibroblasts REF and the percentage of cell growth inhibition increases with increasing concentration of the dose of the extract. It was effective in closing the wound in the scratch assay. The effectiveness of the leaf extract on the wound healing process in the laboratory has been proven.
