A Comparative Study of HEV Motors Drive System

An efficient, reliable, and most inexpensive motor drive is needed for electric propulsion because of the emergent market of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Luckily when it gets to the vehicle dynamics, the selection of an appropriate traction motor becomes a complex affair. This piece of writing presents an examination comparing the IM and PMSM to choose the best electric propulsion system for a PHEV. The foundation of this study is the selection based on primary criteria for the electrically powered motor system. Next, we focus on the importance of the hybridization factor to choose the propulsion motor’s size and weight. We also examine torque performance and its benefits for fuel efficiency in HEV motors. Furthermore, we discuss one controlling technique using torque control to save fuel and study the starting and operating performance of HEV motors.
