Power System Design Considerations for an Island Combined Cycle Power Plant for an Electrical LNG Facility
A safe and reliable power system is integral to the success of a project. Electrical power system configuration is designed and developed during the early design phase of a project. Critical decisions must be made early on with limited information considering factors such as - cost, reliability, and risk. This paper discusses electrical design considerations for an island power system supplying an electric Liquified Natural Gas (eLNG) facility. The paper will focus on early design phase aspects offering general guidelines based on authors’ experience, on electrical power system design, generator modeling, Sub-synchronous Tortional Interaction (SSTI), transient stability and power management system aspects that need to be considered for design of a large complex power system with Brownfield tie-ins.
