Design, Development and Testing of Linear Motion Test Bench for the assessment of Psycho-motor Control
Either intrinsic or extrinsic goal-directed eye and hand motions are a part of many everyday human activities. For the hands and eyes to be placed and timed correctly, a complex network of nigro-striatal pathways is involved in visuomotor coordination. This study looked into the effects of Parkinson’s disease (PD) on hand-eye coordination in activities varying in cognitive complexity. The Psycho-motor control equipment is a device that is designed and developed for eye-hand coordination equipment with audio-visual indication and recording data i.e., it helps in diagnosing and treating patients having lack muscle control. The main objectives of psychomotor control equipment are to assess the pre and post-treatment in eye-hand coordination, to record data for the diagnosis, and to develop an indigenous and inexpensive device. The innovation in devices for the extension of the gaming device concept towards the technological development. It is imperative to develop new equipment for training motor control and eye-hand coordination, as there is currently a dearth of equipment designed for both pre-and post-rehabilitation assessments and eye-hand coordination training. This apparatus is composed of a rod, wood, ring, audio signals, and distance sensors. When the individual has touched the ring to the rod the time of first touch, distance of first error and touch, number of touches, and total time spent to complete the task were recorded.
