Students Level of Trust in the Use of AI Chatbots in Higher Education: A Quantitative Analysis Adopting Technology Acceptance Model

AI chatbots are a type of artificial intelligence (AI) that is revolutionizing many fields. They can learn from conversations and interactions with others, which allows them to answer questions, provide information, and complete tasks better. This is especially helpful in the field of education, where AI chatbots can personalize students’ learning and help them solve problems. However, there are still challenges to overcome, such as building user trust by addressing concerns about experience, reliability, and ensuring that AI chatbots can understand user intent and provide accurate information. This research will explore the level of student trust in AI chatbots in higher education by adapting several variables from the TAM model. This study assessed its hypothesis by collecting data from 98 respondents via an online survey questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed using the PLSSEM method. In this study, it will be shown how students can trust an AI chatbot from the relationship between Willingness to Use, Knowledge, Concern, Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Usefulness, Attitude Toward Use, and Actual System Use.
