Comprehensive analysis of Rolling Resistance Coefficients on various road conditions and their effect on electric vehicle performance

The increased demand to combat climate change by reducing emissions is driving innovation in electric vehicle (EV) technology, especially electric two-wheelers. These vehicles are eco-friendly, affordable, and practical for urban environments. Maximizing their efficiency and range requires understanding factors like rolling resistance, which opposes a vehicle’s motion over surfaces. For electric two-wheelers, minimizing rolling resistance is crucial for extending range and improving energy efficiency. This research investigates the impact of rolling resistance on electric two-wheelers’ performance using MATLAB simulations. Various road conditions, such as asphalt, concrete, and gravel, are modeled to analyze their effects on acceleration, speed, torque, power consumption, and energy efficiency. By overcoming traditional testing limitations through simulation, this study aims to develop a method for accurately estimating rolling resistance, leading to better EV design and operation. The findings will help create more energy-efficient and sustainable EVs, enhancing their performance and range.
