Advanced Approaches to Vehicle Detection through Deep Learning a Scholarly Investigation
The growing imperative for intelligent transportation systems (ITS) evoked by the ongoing population surge and a correlative increase in road traffic demands significant safety improvements in the road transport network. Amid this background, vehicle detection in traffic scenes is becoming a crucial research domain due to the growing number of fatal accidents yearly. Detection of vehicles across various scales and under a broad range of conditions from partial occlusion by environmental factors to low-illumination conditions is a challenging problem to solve. This problem worsens in domains covering civilian and military applications, such as intelligent cities, autonomous driving and intelligent transportation systems, since vehicle traffic monitoring and tracking require precision in these systems for effective urban traffic management. This study draws on a comprehensive literature review and examines the currently dominating deep learning approaches for vehicle detection, focusing on their importance for promoting safe and efficient transport. The study also investigates the issues on morphing environment raises by demonstrating the combination of state-of-the-art deep-learning models and intelligent transportation systems. This points out the transformative capability of these technologies in establishing efficient, safer, and reactive urban road networks.
