Design and Optimization of Suspended RF Stripline Low Pass Filter for Communication Network
The increasing demand for high-performance RF filters in modern communication systems necessitates the development of compact and efficient filtering solutions. The suspended stripline configuration offers a unique approach to achieving low insertion loss and high attenuation characteristics in RF filters. In this paper design methodology for a suspended stripline RF low-pass filter (LPF) is developed, considering the key parameters such as cutoff frequency, insertion loss, return loss, and group delay. The suspended stripline structure is chosen for its ability to confine electromagnetic fields, thereby reducing radiation losses and improving performance. HFSS is used to optimize the dimensions of the suspended RF stripline and the layout of the filter. The proposed design of the suspended stripline RF low-pass filter was evaluated through both simulations and experimental validation. The performance of the stripline LPF filter, using a cutoff frequency of 2.45 GHz, shows that it achieves steep roll-off characteristics and maintains good impedance matching with a return loss better than -20dB and exhibits minimal phase distortion, ensuring clear and reliable signal transmission. These characteristics make the filter highly suitable for RF communication systems where maintaining signal integrity and spectral.
