Unveiling the Nexus of Intelligence: Smart Grids Meter Infrastructure - A Holistic Probe into Security and Privacy Dynamics
The conventional methods of power generation, distribution, and transmission are undergoing radical transformations as smart grids take center stage as the subsequent generation of power systems. Smart grids rely on enhanced monitoring structures, or AMI. An AMI is a collection of interconnected systems and networks designed to gather and process data gathered from smart meters. By analyzing the information gathered from smart meters, AMI also efficiently controls a number of apps and services that deal with electricity. For smart grids to work properly, AMI is an absolute must. Due to its composition of systems that are susceptible to security incidents, AMI is often targeted by these types of assaults. Due to the fact that attackers might undermine smart grid networks and privacy, AMI security is vital. When it comes to handling AMI security, the Key Administration System (KMS) is both an essential and difficult issue. As a result, KMS is rooting for the prospect of becoming a research hub for AMI’s potential growth. The primary security issues with automated monitoring infrastructure are outlined in this survey study, which also emphasizes the usage of important management techniques to safeguard AMI. Our first step is to define enhanced metering architecture and its relationship to the smart grid by reviewing its key components. Concerns and difficulties with AMI’s security are thereafter discussed. Furthermore, we provide a classification system for all the published works that discuss the AMI secure key management system. We conclude by outlining potential avenues for further study of KMS in AMI.
