Development of Automatic Design Program for Flexible Seal
We developed an automated design program for flexible seals, which are a type of thrust vector control system for solid rocket motors.Based on a literature survey, we selected shape design variables for the automated flexible seal design program. The program automatically generates flexible seal finite element (FE) models from these variables and interfaces them directly with the ABAQUS solver for FE simulation, also visualizing the results. To enhance user convenience, we built a GUI using the Qt library. To validate the developed program, we compare the results obtained from the automatic design program with those from the manual design and analysis procedure.Furthermore, the program predicts the torques required to actuate the flexible seal to the specified vectoring angles, and the predicted torques are compared with the torques calculated using the equation proposed in the NASA report. . , (ABAQUS) .
