KENNETH BURKE’S PHILOSOPHY OF LANGUAGE AND THE “NEW RHETORIC”
The article is devoted to the analysis of the relationship between the provisions of the philosophy of language by K. Burke, one of the most original American thinkers of the 20th century, and the “new rhetoric” of C. Perelman. The attention of readers is drawn to the central provisions of K. Burke’s philosophy of language expressed by the category of identification. It is noted that the importance of identification, which is considered as a rhetorical means, cannot be correctly assessed without referring to the nature of language as a symbolic action.
