MIND GAMES: COGNITIVE BIASES AS A SOURCE OF SCIENTIFIC MISCONCEPTIONS
In this article, the authors address the problem of cognitive biases that can have a significant impact on the process of conducting scientific research. The main types of cognitive biases, their causes and consequences for scientific activity are considered. Methods for identifying and minimising the impact of cognitive biases on the results of scientific research are described. The authors conclude that cognitive biases often arise due to the limitations of our mental resources, thinking habits and social factors. Understanding these biases helps to evaluate information more objectively and improves the quality of scientific research.
