Abstract 247: Duplicated Middle Cerebral Artery: Prevalence and Clinical Significance in Aneurysm and Stroke Management
Duplicated middle cerebral artery (DMCA) is an uncommon variant in the cerebral vasculature, marked by the presence of two distinct middle cerebral artery (MCA) branches arising from the internal carotid artery (ICA). This anomaly results from the failure of embryological perforating arteries to merge, leading to the formation of an additional arterial trunk. DMCA is classified into two types based on their origin: Type A, which originates at the top of the ICA, and Type B, which arises between the anterior choroidal artery and the ICA bifurcation.
