Abstract 341: Neutrophil Extracellular Traps in SARS‐CoV‐2 Positive and Negative Acute Ischemic Stroke Thrombectomy Samples
Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are structures which inhibit dissemination of microbes. Immune dysregulation can lead to pathology wherein NETs induce tissue damage or vascular thrombosis. Recent studies have demonstrated the damaging effects of NETs in brain tissue after stroke. Additionally, studies have demonstrates the presence of NETs in thrombectomy samples collected from stroke patients with and without COVID‐19. Our study compares the presence of NETs in thrombectomy samples from COVID‐19 positive and negative patients presenting with acute stroke.
