Abstract 432: Thrombectomy for Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis: A Nationwide Analysis of Outcomes
Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is a rare condition where a blood clot forms in the brain's venous sinuses, hindering blood drainage. It commonly affects young adults, children, and pregnant women, with risk factors including trauma, cancer, pregnancy, oral contraceptives, infections, and congenital blood clotting disorders. The standard treatment is anticoagulation, while thrombectomy is reserved for severe or unresponsive cases. Although guidelines support thrombectomy for refractory CVST, large randomized trials are lacking. This study aims to compare the outcomes of CVST hospitalizations with and without thrombectomy.
