Abstract 242: Direct Pressure Comparisons of Aspiration Pump Verses Syringe in a Comprehensive Benchtop Model
Aspiration pumps are thought to provide an advantage over syringes due to their ability to maintain high and uniform aspiration pressures for prolonged periods. However, quantified data on the advantages of pump versus syringe aspiration for various aspiration catheter systems, especially large‐bore catheters, is lacking in literature. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the hemodynamic effects of an aspiration pump with aspiration with a 60‐cc syringe, across commercially‐available 6F and 8F aspiration catheters, by assessing aspiration flow rates and ingestion of mechanically‐relevant soft and hard synthetic clots.
