Abstract 051: Modeling Embolization Of Arteriovenous Malformation As A Porous Media
Endovascular treatment of arteriovenous malformation requires infusion of liquid embolic material into the malformation with the goal complete or partial occlusion of the nidus while avoiding non target embolization and premature occlusion of draining veins. This process requires a good understanding of the angioarchitecture of the AVM as well as its flow dynamics. A computational model of the malformation and embolic process could be very helpful with preoperative planning for such process.
