Abstract 142: SEDUCE: Short‐Term Outcomes in Stroke Patients Undergoing Mechanical Thrombectomy, Anticoagulation, and Dual Antiplatelet Therapy with Extracranial or Intracranial Stenting
Dual antiplatelet therapy is universally recommended for individuals undergoing intracranial or extracranial stenting to mitigate the potential hazard of stent thrombosis. Nevertheless, the prescription of such medications for individuals concurrently receiving oral anticoagulants remains a subject of contention due to risk of hemorrhagic events. Although investigations have been conducted on patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing coronary stenting while on oral anticoagulation and subsequently placed on dual‐antiplatelet therapy, correlation in patients undergoing acute carotid or intracranial stenting remains unexplored in existing literature. In this retrospective cohort study, we ascertain the impact of oral anticoagulation on adverse outcomes in acute ischemic stroke patients who underwent thrombectomy with stenting and were prescribed dual antiplatelet therapy.
