Abstract 013: Elective Outpatient Middle Meningeal Artery Embolization is Safe and Effective

Chronic subdural hematoma (cSDH) is a common cerebrovascular pathology associated with persistently high rates of morbidity and mortality. Despite transformative advances in clinical medicine and the neurosciences over the past few decades, the cornerstones of cSDH treatment ‐ surgical evacuation or conservative observation ‐ had remained essentially unchanged until recently. Following the results of multiple clinical trials, middle meningeal artery embolization (MMAE) has emerged as a crucial adjunctive therapy that improves outcomes in cSDH. MMAE is well‐tolerated and safe, but how to achieve the best clinical outcomes while reducing resource utilization remains uncertain. We investigated whether elective MMAE performed on an outpatient or inpatient basis affected short‐term health outcomes.
