APPLICATION OF SOCIAL NETWORKS IN TEACHING HUMANITIES DISCIPLINES AT SPORTS UNIVERSITY

Numerous educational and methodological materials and scientific and practical publications devoted to the use of social networks in the educational process at a university are focused on the description and study of new forms and methods of work, their advantages and disadvantages. In professional education, issues related to the relationship between student performance and the use of instant messengers and social networks remain poorly understood. It should be noted that the specifics of education in sports universities dictate the need to provide students with free access to electronic educational materials developed and recommended by the teacher. The purpose of the research: to substantiate the relevance of using social networks as an auxiliary learning tool in teaching humanities at a sports university. Materials, methods and organization of the research. Full-time students of the Smolensk State University of Sports throughout the semester, as part of teaching the disciplines "Sociology" and "Philosophy," were offered educational and methodological materials posted on the teacher’s page on the social network "VKontakte". After the examination session, a sociological written survey (questioning) of students (n=108) was conducted. The study used analysis and synthesis of statistical data, scientific and methodological literature, a written survey, and Kendall’s rank correlation coefficient. Results and discussion. Based on the results of a sociological survey, features of the use of social networks by students of the Smolensk University of Sports in the educational process were identified. Analysis of the data obtained made it possible to establish statistically significant (p<0,05, p<0,01) relationships between the grades received by students in the exam and the sources of information they used in the learning process. Conclusions. A significantly significant negative relationship (-0,193, P<0,05) was revealed between the use of paper sources in the preparation process and an unsatisfactory grade on the exam. A significantly significant negative relationship was determined (-0,238, P<0,05) between the use of unverified Internet sources in the learning process and the "good" rating; a positive relationship was found between the "satisfactory" (0,264, P<0,01) and "unsatisfactory" (0,313, P<0,01). A statistically significant positive relationship was established between students’ use of educational and methodological materials posted by the teacher on their personal page on the social network “VKontakte” and grades "excellent" (0,250, P<0,01) and "good" (0,226, P<0,05), negative - with ratings of "unsatisfactory" (-0,277, P<0,01) and "satisfactory" (-0,385, P<0,01).
