Aesthetic and spatial compatibility of art centers formed as a result of the redevelopment of industrial buildings

The purpose of this article is to study the formative components of Art Centers, formed as a result of redevelopment. The research is based on the methods of volumetric spatial analysis and the study of the dependence of the location of creative centers and their social impact on the local community. The article also provides for the use of the inductive method in the transition from iconic objects to a generalized picture of the revaluation of the historically complex structure of the city. The text analyzes the architectural and spatial structure of cultural and artistic institutions of domestic and foreign design experience. Formative factors of these institutions are considered. The text provides an overview of the variety of art centers, their functions, and their significance for culture as a whole. The main factors influencing the formation of forms during the redevelopment of industrial buildings for a cultural and artistic function are considered, namely: establishing the feasibility of reusing the industrial object of the building (finding out the reasons for the decline of the construction area, the importance of its restoration; the protection status of the building; urban planning analysis of the built-up area, transport and engineering infrastructure); determining its condition from the point of view of the degree of protection and the possibility of revaluation; analysis of its suitability for reinterpretation as a cultural and artistic function (volumetric and planning features, degree of deterioration of the main structures, etc.); determining the economic feasibility of such reconstruction; architectural and town-planning justification of the renovation; development of the architectural project and design solutions for the interiors and exteriors of the Art Center; objective assessment of the project; determination of features of further operation. On the basis of a comprehensive analysis of the volume-spatial organization of domestic and foreign design experience of art centers, the main architectural form-forming factors were identified.
