The role of post-occupancy evaluation and evidence-based design in the creation of rehabilitation environments for military personnel
The article explores the role of Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) and Evidence-Based Design (EBD) in creating effective rehabilitation environments for servicemen in Ukraine. It highlights the pressing need for the development and modernization of rehabilitation centers due to the increasing number of military personnel returning from combat with physical injuries and psychological disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The study emphasizes the importance of applying modern approaches to planning and designing rehabilitation spaces to support both physical and psychological recovery. POE methods are discussed as tools to assess the functionality, accessibility, and therapeutic effectiveness of existing facilities by gathering feedback from users. This approach allows for the identification of shortcomings and the implementation of changes that improve the quality of services and comfort for patients. The article also addresses the lack of research on EBD in Ukraine and the need to integrate these methods into the design process of medical facilities. The study concludes that the use of POE and EBD is critical for developing rehabilitation centers that meet modern standards and effectively support the recovery of servicemen. By implementing these practices, Ukraine has the potential to create spaces that promote the well-being and successful reintegration of veterans into society.
