Physico-Chemical Analysis Of Paddy Fields Soils Of Samastipur, Bihar
The present paper deals with the physico-chemical analysis of soils of four selected paddy fields of Samastipur district, Bihar to know the soil fertility status. The four selected paddy fields were Gangapur (site I), Pusa (Site II), Mujauna (Site III) and Dariya (Site IV). Physico-chemical analysis of soils of these paddy fields were done with reference to pH, electrical conductivity, organic carbon, total nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium and sulphur both at the seedling and panicle stage of the crop. The pH ranged from 7.4 to 8.0, electrical conductivity ranged from 1.5 to 2.2 dS m-1, organic carbon from 0.35 to 0.54 %, nitrogen from 168 to 260 kg/ha, phosphorus from 24.8 to 37.8 kg/ha, potassium from 134 to 205 kg/ha, calcium from 380 to 470 kg/ha, magnesium from 298 to 418.7 kg/ha and available sulphur from 0.14 to 0.58 mg/kg during the crop season, The physico-chemical characteristics of the paddy fields soil is helpful to the crop growers to know the fertility status of the soil.
